Do You See Them?

Daily Reading: Luke 7
Scripture Focus: Do you see this woman? (Luke 7.44)
Devotional Thought: Have you ever walked right past someone without seeing them? I don't care to admit to you how many times I've been guilty of that. Many of you have been the recipients of my distraction! Sorry!
Jesus asked Simon a telling question, "Do you see this woman?"
"Of course! She's in my house! She crashed my party!"
"But do you really see her? Do you understand anything about her?
"Yes, I do! And if you did you wouldn't have anything to do with her!"
"Do you see her pain? Do you even know her name?"
I'm afraid that Simon saw only a loose-living, useless woman. Perhaps she had one use. Perhaps Simon himself had 'used' her services at one time and that was why he ignored her instead of booting her out of the house right away.
Jesus is crying out to the Church today, "Do you see this woman? Do you see this man? Do you see this child? Do you see this teenager? Do you really see them?"
What is your answer?
Prayer: Lord, help me to see people as you see them, "harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd." Amen.
Psalm of the Day: 1 Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever. 2 Give thanks to the God of gods, for his steadfast love endures forever. 3 Give thanks to the Lord of lords, for his steadfast love endures forever; 4 to him who alone does great wonders, for his steadfast love endures forever; 5 to him who by understanding made the heavens, for his steadfast love endures forever; 6 to him who spread out the earth above the waters, for his steadfast love endures forever; 7 to him who made the great lights, for his steadfast love endures forever; 8 the sun to rule over the day, for his steadfast love endures forever; 9 the moon and stars to rule over the night, for his steadfast love endures forever; (Psalms 136:1-9)
It moved my soul again this morning when I read it. How much do we really see?
Casting Crowns, “Does Anybody Hear Her”
Great devotion.
