There Is a Remedy!

Daily Reading: Romans 3

Scripture Focus:  But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it— the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. (Romans 3.21-24)

Devotional Thought: In Romans 3, Paul compares God’s righteousness with humanity’s unrighteousness.  God is holy and we are unholy. God is sinless and we are sinful.  We are separated from God by our condition and by our own disregard and nonchalance.  We don’t take sin seriously enough: All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God!  We may try to hide our sin behind a false facade, deny it with our convoluted logic, or cancel it with good works, but no matter what we do, our sin clings to us.

There is a remedy!  There is a righteousness from God!  This righteousness cannot be worked up by human means.  It comes only through faith in Jesus Christ and only to those who believe.  In other words, you have to be convinced that God has solved the sin problem, and you have to believe that his solution is for you.

The Bible says without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness for sins.  But, thanks be to God, Jesus Christ shed his blood on the cross of Calvary for us. He died that we might live.  The price has been paid.  Life is ours for the asking.  I encourage you to believe and receive his righteousness today.  The Bible says that to all who receive him – to all who believe in his name – he gives the right to become the children of God!

Prayer: Thank you, Lord Jesus, for providing the remedy for the sin-sick condition of my soul.  I believe that you died for my sins and was raised to life again for my righteousness.  I receive you as my Lord and Savior.  Amen.

Psalm of the Day: Psalm 25.8-13

8 Good and upright is the LORD; therefore he instructs sinners in the way.

9 He leads the humble in what is right, and teaches the humble his way.

10 All the paths of the LORD are steadfast love and faithfulness, for those who keep his covenant and his testimonies.

11 For your name's sake, O LORD, pardon my guilt, for it is great.

12 Who is the man who fears the LORD? Him will he instruct in the way that he should choose.

13 His soul shall abide in well-being, and his offspring shall inherit the land.
