A MOMENT WITH SC EVANGELISTS

“God gave some to be … evangelists … so that the body of Christ may be built up.”

(Ephesians 4:11–12)

A MOMENT WITH SCOTT

Dear Friends,

Lana and I just got back from revivals in Michigan, Indiana, and Iowa, and we are so grateful to be home in SC where it’s warmer and the folks are southern friendly! We are blessed in SC.  Many districts do not have the number of song evangelists and preaching evangelists that we do.  Remember to pray for and utilize these servants of God.

Below is a sermon outline  titled "Let us go to Gilgal" - I'm hopeful that it might spark something in your mind. Use it in any way that helps!

Let Us Go to Gilgal

Then Samuel said to the people, “Come, let us go to Gilgal and there renew the kingdom.” (1 Samuel 11.14)

here are times for all of us when we all need a "Gilgal," a renewing of the Kingdom of God in our lives. What can we learn about renewal from Gilgal?

  1. Gilgal was the first camp in the Promised Land. There the Israelites set up a monument of remembrance - twelve large stones taken out from the Jordan's dry riverbed. When we need renewal, it is good to go back to our Gilgal of deliverance. Jesus told the church in Ephesus to "Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the works you did at first" (Revelation 2.5).

  2. It was at Gilgal that the people of God renewed the covenant under Joshua. They observed the rite of circumcision and the celebration of the Passover. When you need renewal, revisit the spiritually high times in your life and recommit to the Lordship of Jesus.

  3. Gilgal was a base of operations for military conquests. From there, the people marched around Jericho. From there, they extended the kingdom. When you are longing for renewal, take the battle to the enemy. Step out in faith. Do the things that God has called you to and accept the victories God has promised.

  4. The prophet Samuel had a three-city preaching circuit that included Gilgal. On these circuits, Samuel taught the words and way of God. You can find renewal by studying the Word of God and walking in the way of obedience.

  5. Saul was crowned king at Gilgal. If you need renewal, restore Jesus as the King of your life - of every decision, every word, every attitude, every action.

Let us go to Gilgal and there renew the Kingdom!

See you at Gilgal, and Happy Thanksgiving!
