God Will Manifest His Holiness

Daily Reading: Ezekiel 20

I will manifest my holiness among you in the sight of the nations. (Ezekiel 20.41)

Devotional Thought: Though the people had strayed far from God, Ezekiel had hope.  God had shown him that Israel would be restored.  God said emphatically and unequivocally...

·       I will.  When God speaks, things come into existence: "And God said..."  Hearing God say I will made it a "done deal" for Ezekiel, erasing all doubt and leaving it simply in the hands of God for the timing.

·       Manifest.  While it is true that sometimes God seems hidden, the signs of his presence are all around us.  He is the God of revelation.

·       My holiness.  There is no one else like God.  He is unique in his radiance, in his power, in his eternity, in his purity, and in his love.  When he reveals his nature, we see that "God is love" (1 John 4.8).

·       Among you.  God delights to dwell amid his people.  From the beginning, he would walk with Adam and Eve "in the garden in the cool of the day" (Genesis 3.8).  He has promised that he would walk among us and be our God and we would be his people.

·       In the sight of the nations.  We get a glimpse of God's nature when we consider what he said to Satan: "Have you considered my servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth?" (Job 1.8).  Writing of Jesus, the author of Hebrews said, "he is not ashamed to call them brothers, saying, 'I will tell of your name to my brothers; in the midst of the congregation I will sing your praise'" (Hebrews 2.11-12).

Child of God, rejoice!  God will manifest his holiness among us!

Prayer: Father, I thank you for your love.  Thank you that you have made me a part of your forever family.  Help me to live in such a way as to bring honor to you, so that you may manifest your holiness in my life.  In Jesus' name, amen.

Psalm of the Day: Psalm 33.1-7

1 Shout for joy in the Lord, O you righteous! Praise befits the upright.

2 Give thanks to the Lord with the lyre; make melody to him with the harp of ten strings!

3 Sing to him a new song; play skillfully on the strings, with loud shouts.

4 For the word of the Lord is upright, and all his work is done in faithfulness.

5 He loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the steadfast love of the Lord.

6 By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, and by the breath of his mouth all their host.

7 He gathers the waters of the sea as a heap; he puts the deeps in storehouses.
