Make His Praise Glorious!

Daily Reading: Revelation 4-5

Day and night they never cease to say, “Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!” ...  They cast their crowns before the throne, saying, “Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.” (Revelation 4.8, 11)

Devotional Thought: I love to imagine the scene of great victory and praise around the throne of God depicted in Revelation 4 and 5.  In that scene, the four “living creatures” serve as a great praise team, extolling the holiness and eternity of our great God.  The elders join with worship, in recognition of God’s glory and creativity.

One day, you and I will join these great and mighty heavenly beings around the throne of God.  It is a day of unimaginable glory and ecstasy!  We who were mortal shall dwell in that eternal habitation.  We who were sinful shall be invited to that most holy place.  We who were blind shall see him perfectly.

Jesus Christ has opened the way for us into that holy city.  Because of his work on the cross, those who believe in him as Savior and receive him as Lord are made righteous before our God.  The praise which flows from hearts made pure by the blood of Christ will far exceed the worship of the living creatures and the twenty-four elders, however glorious that may be.  I have only one question: Why wait?  Let his praise be glorious today!

Let’s not wait for heaven when we can praise him with great joy and energy on earth.  Right now in your heart join with the Psalmist (Psalm 66.1-3, NIV) in the spirit of worship:

Shout for joy to God, all the earth!

Sing the glory of his name; make his praise glorious.

Say to God, “How awesome are your deeds!”

Yes, dear Christian, right now, right here, make his praise glorious!

Prayer: Today, Lord, my prayer is an echo of Revelation 5. “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing! ...  To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb

be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever! Amen!”

Psalm of the Day: Psalm 104:1-9

1 Praise the LORD, my soul. LORD my God, you are very great; you are clothed with splendor and majesty.

2 The LORD wraps himself in light as with a garment; he stretches out the heavens like a tent

3 and lays the beams of his upper chambers on their waters. He makes the clouds his chariot and rides on the wings of the wind.

4 He makes winds his messengers, flames of fire his servants.

5 He set the earth on its foundations; it can never be moved.

6 You covered it with the watery depths as with a garment; the waters stood above the mountains.

7 But at your rebuke the waters fled, at the sound of your thunder they took to flight;

8 they flowed over the mountains, they went down into the valleys, to the place you assigned for them.

9 You set a boundary they cannot cross; never again will they cover the earth.
