Daily Reading: Ezekiel 43

As the glory of the Lord entered the temple by the gate facing east, the Spirit lifted me up and brought me into the inner court; and behold, the glory of the Lord filled the temple. (Ezekiel 43.4-5)

Devotional Thought: Have you ever experienced the presence of God so strongly in your life that you just had to do something?  I have a very vivid memory of attending a denominational rally in Louisville, KY.  God's presence was so powerful that I found myself bowing with hundreds of others at the front of the convention hall.  I was in the presence of God, and I could do nothing else.

There are biblical examples as well.  When God appeared to Moses in the wilderness, Moses removed his sandals and hid his face.  James, John, and Peter - three disciples of Jesus - found themselves witnessing the transfiguration of Jesus, and they fell on their faces in terror.  The Apostle Paul was caught up into the third heaven and lost all sense of where he was.

In Ezekiel 43, the prophet witnessed the glory of the Lord entering the temple.  At that point, when the glory came...

·       The Spirit lifted him up.  Ezekiel was in exile.  He had seen and heard some depressing things.  He needed lifted up.  Do you?  Pray for God to reveal himself to you.  Pray for the glory!

·       The Spirit brought him into the inner court.  After being brought into the inner court, Ezekiel was able to hear someone speaking from the temple.  A fresh word from God!  Do you need it?  Pray to be brought near to God.  Pray for the glory!

·       The glory of the Lord filled the temple.  Ezekiel wasn't impacted alone.  The entire temple was filled with the glory of the Lord.  Does your family, your church, your organization need more of God on the scene?  Pray for the temple to be filled with the Spirit.  Pray for the glory!

Prayer: Lift me up, O Lord!  I desire to mount up on spiritual wings and behold your glory.  Amen.

Psalm of the Day: Psalm 58.9-11

9 Sooner than your pots can feel the heat of thorns, whether green or ablaze, may he sweep them away!

10 The righteous will rejoice when he sees the vengeance; he will bathe his feet in the blood of the wicked.

11 Mankind will say, “Surely there is a reward for the righteous; surely there is a God who judges on earth. ”
