Daily Reading: Ezekiel 12

For I am the Lord; I will speak the word that I will speak, and it will be performed.  It will no longer be delayed. (Ezekiel 12.25)

Devotional Thought: "For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it" (Isaiah 55.10-11).

"All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work" (2 Timothy 3.16-17).

"For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart" (Hebrews 4.12).

Ezekiel said this about the power of God's Word:

·       I am the Lord.  Scripture's authority does not depend on human laws or courts, does not lean on human support or explanation.  It rests firmly on the true Foundation: The Lord!

·       I will speak the word that I will speak.  God answers to only himself.  "Let God be true though every man were a liar" (Romans 3.4).

·       It will be performed.  God said it.  I believe it.  That settles it.  "And God said... And it was so..." (Genesis 1).

·       It will no longer be delayed.  There comes a time when every word of God will be fulfilled.  "And he said to me, ‘It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end'" (Revelation 21.6).

Are you building your life on the Word of the Lord?

Prayer: Thank you for your Word, O Lord.  I will hide it in my heart so that I might not sin against you.  Amen.

Psalm of the Day: Psalm 28.1-5

1 To you, O Lord, I call; my rock, be not deaf to me, lest, if you be silent to me, I become like those who go down to the pit.

2 Hear the voice of my pleas for mercy, when I cry to you for help, when I lift up my hands toward your most holy sanctuary.

3 Do not drag me off with the wicked, with the workers of evil, who speak peace with their neighbors while evil is in their hearts.

4 Give to them according to their work and according to the evil of their deeds; give to them according to the work of their hands; render them their due reward.

5 Because they do not regard the works of the Lord or the work of his hands, he will tear them down and build them up no more.
