Daily Reading: John 3

He gives the Spirit without measure. (John 3.34)

Devotional Thought: When Jesus spoke to a Nicodemus about the need to be born again, he said, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life" (John 3.16, the most known and loved verse in the Bible).  That's good news!

Later in the chapter, Jesus shares more good news: "God gives the Spirit without measure [or without limit]!"

·       Are you uncertain about choices that lie before you? The Spirit is a teaching Spirit.  You have access to unlimited wisdom and guidance.

·       Do you face situations that are larger than you?  The Spirit is a Spirit of power.  Through the Spirit, you have direct access to the limitless power of heaven.

·       Do you fall short in your efforts to love as Christ loves?  The Spirit is the Spirit of love.  When God pours his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, it is infinite in scope!

·       Are you struggling with sin?  The Spirit is the Holy Spirit.  There is available to you unlimited holiness as God fills you and lives in you by his Holy Spirit.

·       Do you want to be a better witness?  The unlimited Spirit witnesses with our spirits, and he gives us the ability to be witnesses.  He also teaches us about Jesus and gives us words to say in testimony.

·       Do you need comforted today?  The unlimited Spirit is a Spirit of comfort.

·       Are you praying for someone to be saved and delivered from sin?  The unlimited Spirit is a Spirit of conviction.

God has given you the Spirit without limit!  You have all of heaven’s potential ready to be lived out in you!  That's good news!

Prayer: Lord, I want to live a limitless Christian life. So, as you sent the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, so give me the Spirit - without limit!

Psalm of the Day: 33.16-22

16 The king is not saved by his great army; a warrior is not delivered by his great strength.

17 The war horse is a false hope for salvation, and by its great might it cannot rescue.

18 Behold, the eye of the LORD is on those who fear him, on those who hope in his steadfast love,

19 that he may deliver their soul from death and keep them alive in famine.

20 Our soul waits for the LORD; he is our help and our shield.

21 For our heart is glad in him, because we trust in his holy name.

22 Let your steadfast love, O LORD, be upon us, even as we hope in you.
