Daily Reading: Revelation 22
Scripture Focus: They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. (Revelation 22.4)
Devotional Thought: After a long day, I love coming home. There is a place on the road where I crest a hill, and the front of my house comes into view. It's a beautiful sight! But the best part of all is going through the door and seeing my bride! Sometimes I have to look for her - she's busy doing something somewhere else in the house - but I gladly take up the search! I never tire of seeing her face.
In Revelation 22, John wrote that those who enter heaven will see the face of Jesus, and his name will be on their foreheads. That is a picture of perfect fellowship and complete consecration.
Perfect fellowship. The Bible says now we see dimly, but one day we will see face-to-face. We will see him as he is and we will be like him. What we didn't understand before will become clear to us. The weaknesses of the flesh, the limitations of the mind, and the burdens of life will roll away and we will see Jesus.
Complete Consecration: The name of Jesus will be on our foreheads, indicating the fact that we belong to him. We have consecrated our lives to him, trusting him with every aspect of our being. For eternity, we will be in that condition of full surrender to and trust in him.
There is coming a day when we will crest the final hill and see the face of Jesus. What a day that will be!
Prayer: Jesus, thank you for loving me. Thank you for preparing a place for me. Thank you for the promise that one day you will welcome me there to be with you forever. Amen.
Psalm of the Day: 16 The trees of the LORD are watered abundantly, the cedars of Lebanon that he planted. 17 In them the birds build their nests; the stork has her home in the fir trees. 18 The high mountains are for the wild goats; the rocks are a refuge for the rock badgers. 19 He made the moon to mark the seasons; the sun knows its time for setting. 20 You make darkness, and it is night, when all the beasts of the forest creep about. 21 The young lions roar for their prey, seeking their food from God. 22 When the sun rises, they steal away and lie down in their dens. 23 Man goes out to his work and to his labor until the evening. (Psalms 104:16-23)
